Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Jann Arden is undoubtedly one of Canada’s most precious resources. Sally Armstrong is a journalist and human rights activist. She was editor-in-chief of Homemaker’s Magazine from 1988-1999. She is presently editor-at-large for Chatelaine Magazine, as well as a contributing author to Maclean’s. She has been honoured by the National Magazine Awards Foundation for her writing, the YWCAs Women of Distinction Award for communications and in 1998 was made a member of the Order of Canada. In May 2002, Penguin books released her long awaited book entitled Veiled Threat – The Hidden Power of the Women of Afghanistan – a subject very close to her heart.
Jennifer Bailey was enrolled in a writing course when encouraged by her tutor to submit her story to Chicken Soup for the Soul. She enjoys reading as well as writing children's stories and skits that are based on Biblical truths.

Marilyn Bell Di Lascio went on to swim the English Channel in 1955 after her historic Lake Ontario swim, and then the Straits of Juan de Fuca in 1956. After retiring from swimming, in 1957 she married her sweetheart Joe Di Lascio, the lifeguard from Atlantic City. Marilyn taught public school for many years, and later earned both her graduate and masters degrees. She and Joe now have four grown children, and five grandchildren. In 2001, CBC first aired the made for TV movie Heart: The Marilyn Bell story.
Maree Benoit received her Early Childhood Education Diploma from Cariboo College in 1978. Maree taught pre-school in Williams Lake for many years until her retirement. Kurt Browning is one of the most prolific skaters in Canadian history. With jumps labeled “raw, confident and powerful,” in 1988 he was the first skater ever to successfully complete a quadruple jump in world competition. Kurt subsequently earned four World Figure Skating Championships and four Canadian Championships. One of the best entertainers skating has ever seen, when he turned pro in 1994 Kurt won consecutive World Professional and Canadian Professional Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997. John Seagrave (1959-2005) lived in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories - which is in the Arctic. He was one of the last generation of Canadian fur traders, and witnessed the closing of an era of our history. After Ogemah was chosen for this book, he wrote his own book called The Hudson's Bay Boy, which chronicled his humorous adventures living amongst the Aboriginal people of Canada’s far north.
